Common questions
Does my PDF get sent anywhere?
No. Your PDF and password never leave your browser. Encryption runs entirely client-side using JavaScript.
What encryption method is used?
RC4 128-bit encryption, which is compatible with all major PDF readers including Adobe Acrobat, Chrome, and macOS Preview.
Can I remove the password later?
Yes. Use the Unlock PDF tool to remove the password from a PDF you own. You will need the original password.
What if I forget the password?
PDFHarbor never stores your password or file, so recovery is not possible. Store it somewhere safe before sharing.
